GET SET FOR THE GAMES: FREE WORKSHOPS TO HELP BUSINESSES PLAN FOR TRAVEL CHANGES DURING GC2018

GET SET FOR THE GAMES: FREE WORKSHOPS TO HELP BUSINESSES PLAN FOR TRAVEL CHANGES DURING GC2018
DON'T  get caught out or be the last to know how your business could be impacted when Australia's biggest sporting event in a decade takes place. The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 will run from 4 15 April, across 13 venues on the Gold Coast and 2 venues in Brisbane.

With an estimated 6 million extra journeys expected to be made across the Gold Coast during the Games, transport networks will be under pressure so businesses need to consider how to reduce their non-Games travel during the busiest times.

There will be temporary changes to our transport network including the way some roads operate, local parking and access restrictions, the introduction of a Games Route Network and Games Lanes and changes to some public transport schedules, routes and stops.

The Get Set for the Games Travel Advice for Business Program provides businesses with essential information to help keep them moving during GC2018, allowing them make the most of opportunities during the event.

By attending one of our free Get Set for the Games workshops businesses will get detailed information and practical assistance to help them plan ahead for potential disruption from daily road closures, restrictions and other impacts.

Among the options available to businesses is staggering work hours so staff can travel outside of normal peak periods, offering video or conference call facilities or allowing staff to work from home.

Businesses are also being asked to consider how they receive deliveries, and how road closures and changes to on-street parking and loading arrangements will affect access to their business.

If your business is located near a competition venue, training venue, the Games Route Network (GRN), a road event route, a Celebration Zone or uses the M1 then these workshops are a must attend event for you.

During a workshop you'll also get the chance to develop a Games Travel Action Plan with the help of the Get Set for the Games Team.

This is something you can take back to your workplace to kick start your planning. The Get Set for the Games team are already working with over 1000 local Gold Coast and Brisbane businesses to help them to develop and implement their Games time travel plans.

The Get Set for the Games workshops, including industry specific ones, will be held from now until March 2018 at locations across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane. Workshop spaces are limited so don't miss out.
