NEW TOOLS TO ASSIST DEVELOPERS

NEW TOOLS TO ASSIST DEVELOPERS

BRISBANE City Council has reported more than 60,000 development applications have been lodged through its self-service web-hub - Property and Development Online.

Established in 2007, the website offers the opportunity to search for and track development applications, lodge submissions, make property enquiries, perform a Level of Assessment enquiry for common development types and gives access to Brisbane City Plan 2014 and interactive mapping.

Last financial year, the website recorded 177,000 page views and on the back of the success of the site, has launched a new version of the portal.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk says the new-look Property and Development Online system is more user-friendly, making it easier for customers to understand the Brisbane City Plan 2014 and locate information about development applications.

"Council's strategy in upgrading PD Online was to deliver a better customer system which would assist with common development assessment enquiries such as tracking development applications, lodging submissions and submitting property enquiries," Quirk says.

"A major improvement to the new-look PD Online tool is the 'Level of Assessment Calculator', which helps customers to determine with just a few clicks of the mouse whether their proposed development is self-assessable, code assessable or impact assessable.

"This will assist first-time resident developers and mum and dad renovators by simplifying everyday development assessment queries.

"This handy calculator can be used for the 11 most common development types, which we expect will cover approximately 80 per cent of customer enquiries as part of our commitment to making the development assessment process easier to understand and use."

Quirk says the ability to access information about specific development applications was of particular importance to residents and developers who might wish to make submissions.

"The new-look PD Online tool makes it even easier for customers to find details of a particular development application, keep track of its progress and make submissions so their views can be considered by Council," he says.
