NDIS health-tech T-Shirt Ventures raises $11m in Series A, former Ramsay Health Care CEO joins board

A Sydney-based health-tech helping National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIS) participants easily access health support has raised $11 million in a Series A round solely led by HEAL Partners.

In conjunction with the raise, T-Shirt Ventures will also see former Ramsay Health Care (ASX: RHC) CEO Chris Rex become chairman of its board.

Rex, who is an advisor at HEAL Partners, has not taken on any board or executive roles since exiting Ramsay Health Care in 2017. During his nine-year tenure as CEO, RHC became a major global health care company operating in 220 hospitals and facilities across six countries.

The capital injection will be used to accelerate T-Shirt Ventures' expansion in technology, products and staff in order to give NDIS participants improved choice and control.

“We’ll use this latest round of funding to further develop our technology platform so that we can continue to deliver world-class technology to our customers as we scale,” said T-shirt Ventures co-founder and CEO Tom Blinksell, who built the company alongside Jonathan Salgo.

“Today it’s the NDIS, but choice and control through technology solutions is universal for disabilities. Scale to us means developing technology solutions that can support every child born with a disability in this world, and any person who acquires a disability.”

Founded in 2018, T-Shirt Ventures is the parent company of two brands – NDIS plan management software Provider Choice and online marketplace HeyHubble, which connects NDIS participants to quality providers.

While Provider Choice has a national presence and has helped 15,000-plus NDIS families, HeyHubble is currently being trialled with providers in Western Australia and has set its sights on interstate expansion.

T-Shirt Ventures came to fruition after Blinksell and Salgo encountered personal challenges managing NDIS funds, leading to a desire to make the scheme work effectively for Australians who rely on it - including the families of participants.

“When you have a family member with a disability, you realise how far we are from being an equal society,” Salgo said.

“People with disability is a group that anyone can join at any time. Tomorrow your child could be diagnosed with autism, you could suffer a spinal cord injury or be diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

“In all these cases, the NDIS is there to turn to and we’re there to offer you choice and control with our tech solutions.”

Rex added that over his forty years in healthcare, he’s been driven by the fact he’s wanted to drive the best possible outcomes and opportunities for people.

“The work that T-shirt Ventures does with their innovative solutions is no different, and I’m looking forward to working with them to accelerate the impactful work they are doing to help people live better lives.”
