How Servcorp is making it easier to be an entrepreneur

Trying to build a respected business without a permanent office, or at least a base of operations, can make life difficult for even the savviest entrepreneur.

While a good working space boosts productivity, team engagement and professionalism, it is a fine balancing act when you require flexibility to cater for rapid changes in a business.

That's why Vanessa Leishman decided to grow her family law practice Leishman Legal out of the workspaces available at Servcorp.

Leishman took advantage of the premium serviced workspaces, which are provided at a fraction of the price of an average office and evolved her business beyond expectations.

"I started off as a virtual client, meaning that I didn't have a permanent office within the Servcorp structure, I just came in when I needed to have meetings with my clients," explains Leishman.

"The Virtual Office package included a dedicated receptionist answering my calls and greeting clients, and a prestigious address on my business card.

"Then I moved up to an intermediate stage where I had a certain number of dedicated hours within the office while still also working offsite, and now I'm working entirely out of Servcorp offices.

"It's been invaluable in terms of the type of space Servcorp provides and it means I've been able to provide a high-quality office and meeting space for my clients and staff-members without the commitment and expense of taking on a formal lease."

The Leishman Legal of today specialises in all aspects of family law, from complex property settlements to parenting disputes, child protection and domestic violence.

According to Leishman, she is also one of the few practitioners in Queensland to service the niche area of trans-Tasman family law disputes, as she is a practising solicitor in both Australia and New Zealand.

Leishman's work takes her to all corners of the world, so it was a coup to find an office provider that could support her needs internationally.

"I quite frequently use other Servcorp offices in Auckland and around Australia, because I have quite a few clients who live interstate and overseas. Recently I made use of the Servcorp office in London, when I needed to see a client there at short notice," says Leishman.

"It's really helped my business in terms of being able to meet clients outside of Brisbane, but still within a consistently professional and high-quality environment."

Leishman believes her business wouldn't be quite the same without Servcorp's assistance and support, particularly in the form of referral opportunities, in-house administrative and receptionist support.

"My clients are sometimes in difficult circumstances, and some may be upset when they contact the office," she says.

"The Servcorp reception team understand my clients and manage any situation seamlessly.  They also offer in-house admin and paralegal support which I utilise quite frequently as well.

"Even though Leishman Legal is not a large firm, I can provide all my clients with the quality of meeting space at Servcorp, which they would have at any of the other larger CBD firms."
