Doughnut Time is making a grand comeback from sticky situation

Despite collapsing in a heap merely four months ago, beloved doughnut chain famous for its outlandish and extreme doughnut creations, Doughnut Time, is making a shocking comeback.

After the store suffered a sudden and extreme collapse in March the chain's social media accounts are once again firing all cylinders, with the new owners of the defunct brand claiming the store will make a comeback, albeit with a smaller store footprint than before.

Posting on Facebook, Doughnut Time says the brand is "coming back and we're bigger and better than ever!".

"Your favourite sweet treats will be returning to Aussie shelves once again. We're talking your original favourites, plus vegan, gluten free, high protein and keto options! Follow us for flavour updates and exciting new store openings."

The widely reported demise of Doughnut Time, which collapsed under the weight of its own success, and acts as a lesson for properly managing the growth of a startup, saw administrators swoop in and take over the brand as new owners.

The company's new owner is reportedly Peter Andros, who purchased the brand from a third-party liquidator in charge of tearing the old company down for parts.

Responding to customer criticism of the old owners' handling of the closure of Doughnut Time and their failure to pay staff properly, the new owners spilled more details in a comment on the original Facebook post and directed aggrieved ex-employees to contact the ombudsman directly to arrange remuneration for lost payments.

"Hi everyone, thank you for your comments. We are excited to bring the Doughnut Time brand back to Australians. To answer some of your questions: Doughnut Time is under completely new ownership and management," says the brand on Facebook.

"As the new owners, we think what happened to past employees is unacceptable. We encourage any previous workers who have not yet done so to reclaim unpaid wages by contacting the Department of Jobs and Small Business. We believe many Australians missed Doughnut Time and when we saw it was up for sale, we jumped at the opportunity to bring it back."

"At this stage we are planning on opening eight new stores in the next two months in locations such as The Myer Centre and South Bank in Brisbane, Degraves Street and Fitzroy in Melbourne, plus Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. We'll post all our regular updates right here stay tuned for more!"

It definitely looks like the brand is whirring back into gear, and with new owners at the helm Doughnut Time might be able to learn from its past mistakes and re-claim its crown as king of Australian food Instagram.
