Building and learning

INTERNATIONAL property and construction consultants Davis Langdon say the Federal Government’s Building The Education Revolution (BER) scheme has bolstered Queensland’s construction consultancy industry.

Director of project management Queensland for Davis Langdon, John Pemble-Smith says the BER has been very effective in creating jobs, stimulating the economy and setting up education infrastructure for the future.

“Architects, consultants such as Davis Langdon, tier one, two, three and smaller local building companies and building materials suppliers across the state are all getting a direct benefit,” he says.

“The flow on effect outside the program is the ongoing commerce that is generated in each community.”

Smith says thousands of jobs had been created under the BER program and the positive impact of the scheme was being felt in towns and cities across the whole state.

He says most schools benefitting under the program were getting exactly what the stimulus package is intended to deliver.
