BRISBANE LAWYERS RAISE MORE THAN $250,000 FOR CANCER RESEARCH

STAFF from Brisbane law firm DibbsBarker will be back on their bikes to fundraise for cancer research at the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer (RTCC) held over the weekend of August 15-16.

2015 marks the fifth time DibbsBarker have participated in the renowned charity event, having raised a grand total of more than $250,000 for the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute based in Herston.

This year, the ambitious team aims to add a further $40,000 to the figure.

DibbsBarker Partner Penny Murray says the firm has been focusing on achieving their goal by bringing together friends, families and colleagues to participate in everything from bake sales to personal donations.

"Our participation in the RTCC gives all staff an opportunity to fundraise, support the riders and challenge themselves with the physical training leading up to and then in the ultimate road event," says Murray.

"Although our staff are giving back to the community through their participation, we find that many feel like they receive in return far more than they give."

All proceeds from the RTCC go to the world's leading medical experts at the Institute, who direct the funds towards further vital research, study performance and acquisition of new equipment.

More than $17.9 million has been raised by participants in the RTCC since 2011, making the event the largest fundraising event series in Queensland.
