Sydney-headquartered hydrogen fuel cell vehicle manufacturer H2X Global has hit another milestone ahead of its planned London Stock Exchange (LSE) listing, winning its second contract with Swedish municipal waste company Renova to supply commercial trucks for the city of Gothenburg.
Whilst the previous agreement with Renova in 2022 was for five vehicles, the latest deal is fleet-wide and could be worth up to 240 million SEK (AU$34 million), establishing the largest fleet of its kind in the Scandinavian country.
Owned by 10 municipalities in western Sweden, Renova is Gothenburg's waste management operator and will be responsible for operating the vehicles that will be developed and rolled out over the next three years.
Whilst offering the same range and load capacity as traditional fossil-fuelled vehicles, the trucks will produce zero emissions according to H2X, and are designed to meet a range of truck configurations required by Renova such as tail lift dumpers, garbage compactors, hook lifts, and crane loaders.
The tender was released in December last year and was officially won by H2X Global's subsidiary H2X Gothenburg, which has successfully secured vehicles in 12 out of the 13 categories specified in the tender, covering both 18 and 26-tonne vehicle classes.
The group also expects the introduction of these vehicles to drive demand for a hydrogen refuelling station commissioned by Hynion, which is set to open in the first quarter of 2024.
Hynion is the leading hydrogen fuel supplier in Scandinavia, and earlier this month entered into a partnership with H2X Global to establish commercial fleets of hydrogen-powered vehicles and the necessary infrastructure to keep them running.

H2X will assemble the vehicles locally in Sweden, forming part of its goal to foster local development and make hydrogen a cost-competitive solution for the decarbonisation of back-to-back fleet operations.
