ACCLAIMED RESTAURANT AND ENTERTAINMENT DUO ENLISTED TO THE STAR'S NEW ROOFTOP VENUE

THE Star Gold Coast's new tower The Darling, which is nearing completion, has enlisted high profile Gold Coast identities Simon Gloftis (pictured right) and Billy Cross (pictured left) for its new rooftop restaurant and bar.

Acclaimed restaurateur Gloftis and entertainment guru Cross will co-manage the venue, bringing a wealth of home-grown and international dining and entertainment expertise.

Gold Coast restaurant mogul Gloftis has quickly gone from humble kitchenhand to respected icon of the foodie scene.

From his early years as café owner of local venues like Three Beans and Little Beans, to now being the owner of Hellenika, Gloftis has become an institution in the Gold Coast dining scene.

"My passion for food and my passion for my hometown is undying and I remain committed to continually revolutionising how we deliver exceptional, high-end food experiences to ensure the Gold Coast is transformed into a dining mecca," says Gloftis.

Cross, CEO of Queensland's Cross Promotions International, has been building his entertainment empire over three decades.

Cross' company is behind some of the biggest events in Australia including The Falls Festival, Schoolies, Summerfieldayze and V8 Supercars 600 Sounds.

"The Gold Coast is currently entering a new era and with the announcement that we are launching one of the most exciting new entertainment venues in Australia, the buzz surrounding our city continues to escalate," says Cross.

"Partnering with The Star Gold Coast for such a cutting edge and unique venue is a project I am incredibly proud to be part of and I cannot wait to show the world what our coastal city has to offer."

The Darling - rooftop infinity pool

Located on the top level of The Darling luxury suite hotel, the venue is hoped to be the jewel on top of the hotel's crown.

Construction is set to be delivered in time for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, and the new venue will welcome its first guests in March 2018 offering great food, drinks, and views of the Gold Coast.

Included in the venue will be a 110-seat dining area, opening out onto an infinity pool overlooking the Gold Coast skyline. A private dining venue will also be available for those wanting to cater for more intimate functions.

The bar has been designed to entertain 300-500 guests. It will host local DJs, feature extensive beverage options and also include a VIP bar.

Star Entertainment Group Managing Director Queensland, Geoff Hogg (pictured middle), says the bar and venue symbolises a defining moment for the property becoming a world-class destination.

"Having already unveiled eight new food and beverage venues as part of the redevelopment, including award-winning Kiyomi, Cucina Vivo and Garden Kitchen & Bar, the new restaurant and bar will further elevate our offering and cement our reputation as a leader on the dining scene," says Hogg.

"A formidable power due in Billy Cross and Simon Gloftis, combined with our world-class rooftop location and stunning Broadbeach skyline views, the restaurant and bar promises to be Queensland's premier dining destination."

The Darling - first look inside new luxury suite

Earlier this month, The Star revealed the new manager of the two Gold Coast hotels The Darling and The Star Grand.

John Autelitano joined the group as general manager of hotels and has more than 20 years' experience working with global brands around the world.

More recently, Autelitano led The Star Sydney's portfolio as general manager of hotels where he helped secure the brand's international reputation.
