MALOUF PHARMACIES RIDES HOME-GROWN WAVE

MALOUF PHARMACIES RIDES HOME-GROWN WAVE

MALOUF Pharmacies is poised to capitalise on a growing consumer appetite for products made in Australia.

The pharmacy group celebrated its range of home-grown health and beauty products last night, with an exclusive Australian Brand Showcase at Victoria Park.

A diverse mix of businesses shared new products and advice with social media influencers, including founders and representatives from Lanolips, Loving Tan, The Jojoba Company, Natio, Nude by Nature, Activated Nutrients, Eco Tan, Summer Salt, Gaia, Biohawk, Paleo Hero and Raw C.

The event coincided with the pharmacy group's new 'Purely Australian' catalogue released earlier this week, featuring products available at its network of 19 stores across Queensland.

Malouf Pharmacies founder and owner Richard Malouf says the group has supported Australian brands for more than 53 years, which has been instrumental to its success.

"Our focus has been to increase our ranging of small local and upcoming brands, particularly in our health and beauty sections which we are so proud to support," Malouf says.

"Our exclusive brand showcase event and our latest Purely Australian catalogue are merely an extension of this long-standing commitment."

He says one of the group's core philosophies has been to support other small Australian businesses like themselves.

The commitment is set to pay off for Malouf Pharmacies, with recent figures from Roy Morgan Research indicating a growing preference for Australian-made goods.

In the 12 months to September 2015, 89.2 per cent of Australians aged 14 years old and over said they'd prefer to buy home-grown, compared to 86.5 per cent of people in 2013.

"It is our long-standing partnerships with local suppliers that has helped us serve Queensland families so well for all these years," Malouf says.

"It was fantastic to see everyone come together and join us in this exciting, and I believe industry-first, event of this nature.

"We can't thank everyone enough for their support and we are proud to be an Australian made and owned company."

The Purely Australian catalogue promotion period ends on February 7.
