STARTUP BAIT SELECTED FOR RIVERPITCH SHARKS
SIX startups have been selected to pitch to Shark Tank's Steve Baxter and Dr Glen Richards, venture capital firms and angel investors at RiverPitch.

The leading bi-annual pitching event for startups puts candidates up to score up to $1.5 million in funding.

The six teams are:
  • ScooterTutor: platform to connect students and tutors online
  • Bliss: software code analysis tool
  • Bold Platform: business platform for web designers
  • Crowd.Delivery: on-demand delivery service
  • Viberent: rental management platform for SME rental companies
  • agAlytics: rapid infield soil nutrient testing platform

The event has been organised by Brisbane co-working hub River City Labs since 2012, and holds hopes of drawing a crowd of nearly 200 this year.

River City Labs general manager Josh Anthony says the businesses going through are young, but investment-ready, with a proven track record.

Viberent has already registered $300 million worth of rental equipment since the beginning of the year and has more than 200 customers.

Bliss has raised $1.2 million from the US and counts TypeForm, Task Rabbit, Intuit and Bleacher Report as customers.

ScooterTutor's business is doubling in size every three months, with 100 new customers joining each month.

RiverPitch is again sponsored by stockbroking firm Morgans and law firm McCullough Robertson. It will take place at the Palace Barracks, 61 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane on May 25.
