SURF STAR RESHAPING THE CORPORATE WORLD

SURF STAR RESHAPING THE CORPORATE WORLD

FROM a Surf Life Saving star to an entrepreneurial whizz, Jacki Hendy is shifting the corporate mindset on the Gold Coast towards a more holistic "mind, body and spirit" ethos.

The founder of New Beginnings Events is encouraging a movement away from the traditional business framework and says while financial freedom is still a driving force, more businessmen and businesswomen are realising it can't be achieved without balance and a collaborative network.

And it seems Gold Coasters agree, with demand for her networking events prompting Hendy, former wife of ironman legend Trevor Hendy, to launch a new television show that highlights a mix of business and financial education, along with lifestyle and spiritual guidance.

"It all started three years ago when my partner (Paul Botica - Byrning Spears Surf Wear pioneer and entrepreneur) passed away from cancer - my new beginning started with a life-changing ending," says Hendy.

"When I was reviewing and questioning everything and going through my grieving and healing simultaneously, it inspired me to really want to make my life count and dare to do things that I never would have in the past.

"I really had to look at what my dreams were, where my skillset and experience were in business and how I could translate everything that I had been through in life and my experience as a businesswoman.

"I had to put it into one mould so I was investing in happiness and living with passion and purpose in all aspects of my life, including and especially business."

Hendy's New Beginnings entrepreneurial events encourage a cooperative community focused on corporate education, empowerment, inspiration and transformation.

She says her events differ from traditional networking events on the Gold Coast because it is about authentic and organic networking and developing trusted relationships.

"I felt very inspired to bring together people of like-mind, to get results together, to work more from the heart and have a holistic approach to business so that people are really investing in their inner harmony and balance - work, rest and play," she says.

"They are really about engaging and connecting with one another, it is not about coming in and flicking a business card at each other and spamming each other with emails.  It is actually about building long-term relationships and really getting to know each other and each other's business.

"The mindset at New Beginnings is about the power of cooperation and all of us being able to leverage the relationships that we have to achieve things together that we wouldn't be able to do individually."

The popularity of the events have led Hendy to launch a new show, Jacki Hendy's New Beginnings, which will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and streamed online.

The show, which is debuted on April 30, will reveal the real life transformational triumphs and success stories behind local identities and will keep viewers informed about current news, the Gold Coast lifestyle and trending social events via panel discussions and interviews.

The first episode will feature Geoff Wilson, who holds the record for the longest solo trek across Antarctica, along with a panel including Jacki Hendy, multi-national agribusiness and manufacturing entrepreneur Melinda Richards , certified organic health and beauty care queen Therese Kerr and iconic Gold Coast Yogini Madonna Williams.

Hendy's children, Kristelle and TJ, will also feature on the show with their own special segments about Gold Coast life.

The show will be filmed at Griffith University Gold Coast campus and aligns with a number of charities and causes including Tweed Cancer Care Unit, Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Griffith Health Institute.
