RIVERPITCH ANNOUNCES FINALISTS

RIVERPITCH ANNOUNCES FINALISTS
A SOCIAL network for travellers and a marketplace for street food are two of seven startups that have been selected to present at RiverPitch, Brisbane's leading bi-annual startup pitch event.

Ten startups pitched at River City Labs last week for seven finalists to be selected as part of RiverPitch this Friday, which is being sponsored by stockbroking network Morgans.

The finalists are StreetEats, Hire-Hive, Outbound, Medical Medial, TrackActive Health Technology, Men on the Moon and Obzervr.

StreetEats allows users to order street food using their smartphone and follow this into tracking; Hire-Hive is a marketplace for film and video gear rentals; Outbound is a social network for travellers; Medical Medial connects doctors with doctors; TrackActive Health Technology builds innovative exercise prescription and monitoring for the medical, health and fitness industry; Men on the Moon helps bricks and mortar retailers; and Obzervr claims to be the next generation environment monitoring software.

The teams will have the opportunity to win over some of Australia's most active investors, including River City Labs and RiverPitch founder Steve Baxter (pictured) and Ezidebit founder Michael Dempsey.

James Macaulay, director of Morgans, says RiverPitch has a strong synergy with Morgans.

"Over the past 30 years, Morgans has been fortunate to work with many of Queensland's and Australia's most successful businesses and entrepreneurs," says Macaulay.

"All of these entrepreneurs faced enormous challenges in their startup phase and a common theme in their ability to navigate this has been their willingness to seek out, work with and learn from mentors and like-minded individuals.

"River City Labs is connecting our next generation of talented entrepreneurs with appropriate mentors and peers through initiatives like RiverPitch. As sponsors of the event, it is a privilege to join forces with them in order to nurture and inspire Australia's next startup success stories."
