A new 25 storey residential apartment block could soon be popping up in Burleigh Heads after Queensland-based construction company Morris Property Group (MPG) announced it had submitted plans for the development this week.

The project, proposed for a 2,024sqm site located along the Gold Coast Highway (GCH) next door to MPG’s Boardwalk Burleigh condo hotel, would be the group’s fifth project under development in the area if approved.

Comprising of two and three-bedroom apartments, the proposed building will include four levels of underground car parking and on-site recreational facilities for residents.

“We saw a great opportunity for this site as it's ideally positioned to offer direct access to popular destinations including James Street and Goodwin Terrace,” Morris Property Group director Barry Morris said.

“We've noticed in-market buyers are drawn to the relaxed lifestyle of Burleigh Heads while seeking high quality and functional apartments at an affordable price point.”

Located between Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta, the idyllic Burleigh Heads is known for its surf breaks, towering pine trees and restaurants.

Situated within a minute’s walk of the beach and 300 metres to the popular local entertainment precinct, the site at 1873-1875 GCH was acquired in 2021 through Antonio Mercuri’s GV Property Group.

Designed by Canberra-based architects Guida Moseley and Brown, the style of the building has been conceptualised to integrate with the surrounding area.

Established in Canberra in 1978, Morris Property Group is involved in property investment, asset management, development and construction across ACT, NSW and QLD.

MPG is currently developing a residential apartment building in Burleigh - Sandbar Burleigh Beach - as well as a new office and shopping destination, Mermaid Plaza, in Mermaid Beach – both of which are currently under construction.

MPG has additionally lodged proposals for a 37-storey building, consisting of 157 apartments, known as Crest Broadbeach. It also recently submitted plans for a nine-level boutique apartment building comprising 16 high-end three-bedroom apartments named Malo Broadbeach, with both projects set to launch in the coming months.
