Gold Coast SUNS up the ante on hospitality with Pirate Life and Virgin Australia partnerships

"There is nothing like live sport. It's an event, it's theatre, it's an escape from people's day to day jobs."

According to Andrew Thomas, General Manager of Commercial Projects at the Gold Coast SUNS, this is one of the biggest motivators behind his team's delivery of outstanding corporate hospitality.

For almost a decade, the home of the Gold Coast SUNS has been a mainstay for businesses who wish to entertain staff and treat clients to an unforgettable night out.

Boasting six unique corporate hospitality areas, there is a space to suit every budget.

Earlier this year Metricon Stadium celebrated the launch of its new Pirate Life Deck which has quickly become a favourite among young Gold Coast businesspeople.

"The deck itself has been in existence since the stadium opened but this year, we approached our partners in Carlton & United Breweries and Pirate Life to refresh the facility," says Thomas.

"What we have now is a really on trend space that is ideal for catering to the younger crowd of emerging professionals on the Gold Coast."

The Pirate Life Deck is an open air, undercover area with prime viewing on level three of the stadium which, since its inception, has attracted memberships at a fast-growing rate. It now also boosts an impressive Gold Coast style art wall, which is proving to be an Insta must.

It is directly above Metricon's classic Lounge by Virgin Australia which is undoubtedly one of the most social and stylish, popular spaces to be on game day.

"The Lounge by Virgin Australia is one of the most popular sport hospitality facilities in the country," says Thomas.

"On game day we have more than 300 businesses represented from South East Queensland alone.

"It's a networking dream. The Gold Coast is made up of 90 per cent small-to-medium businesses and that space really caters to them with an instantly recognisable partnering brand in Virgin."

But of course, delivering the best corporate hospitality is about more than just the space.

The head of Disney's customer service team flew out to Australia in 2011 to give in-depth training to Metricon's staff.

Thomas says that even now, this unique training continues to give his team the best possible edge.

"Disney's whole philosophy is about going the extra mile and always trying to do things that go a long way with customers but cost nothing on our part," he says.

"It's things like always smiling and always greeting people. We have really tried to adopt and embrace those Disney philosophies and even still our HR team rolls out those same training programs to anyone who is inducted."

Treat your staff to a brilliant mid-year motivator or show your clients how much you value their business at the Gold Coast SUNS' next clash at Metricon Stadium.
