FATHER OF SEA WORLD DIES

VILLAGE Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) have today sent their deepest condolences to the friends and family of deceased tourism magnate Keith Williams.

The creator of the Sea World theme park had suffered from poor health for five weeks before finally passing away aged 82 at Pindarra Hospital early this morning.

“We are very saddened by Mr Williams’ passing. He was a remarkable man who will be greatly missed,” says VRTP chairman John Menzies.

His 48-year-old wife, Thea Williams, says the funeral date has yet to be confirmed but it will be a private service. A separate public ceremony is expected to celebrate his life and contribution to the city’s tourism industry.

Leaving behind a fortune worth more than $150 million and two children, Williams was a water-ski champion and an original ‘white shoe brigade’ member, who backed then National Party premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen in the 1970s and 80s.

Williams established Sea World in 1971, Hamilton Island Resort in 1982 and a residential resort at Port Hinchinbrook.
