BREAKFAST CREEK HOTEL ADDS TO RUM DIARY

QUEENSLAND'S love affair with rum is in for a new twist, crafted behind the bar at Breakfast Creek Hotel.

Commissioned by the team at its namesake bar within the venue, Substation No. 41 Rum is a dark blend made with sugarcane molasses.

The Substation No.41 Rum Bar opened in 2012 and is home to one of the largest collections of rum in the world, with more than 500 varieties from over 50 countries.

Rum specialist brothers Stuart and Simon Griffith decided to capitalise on the growing market, with the changing palate turning to premium blends.

"We wanted to use natural Queensland ingredients to create a high-quality Australian rum with an exceptional taste," Stuart Griffith says.

"We went back and forth on about eight different blends, providing feedback for development until the blend was perfected and the signature taste of Substation No. 41 Rum was created."

Griffith says the concept has been a long time in the making and took over a year to perfect the final product. The rum can be enjoyed using mixers or sipped straight.

"In October we'll be celebrating the third birthday of the Substation No. 41 Rum Bar and it was always our intention to commission our own rum," he says.

"Rum is our passion and we're thrilled to see Substation No. 41 Rum finally come to life."

Substation No.41 Rum is available for purchase from Dan Murphy's and served in selected venues.
