Abigroup to build $1.2 billion hospital for kids

CONSTRUCTION company Abigroup has secured a lucrative deal as managing contractor for the $1.2 billion Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane.

The 12-storey hospital will have four levels of underground parking, 359 beds and is due to open in 2014. Abigroup managing director David Jurd says the company is delighted to be appointed for the prestigious project to build what will be one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals.

“We look forward to providing a first class facility which the whole of Queensland and Australia can be proud of.”

The project is designed by architects Conrad Gargett and Lyons as part of a joint venture.
