TRIPADVISOR - the largest travel community in the world - has announced Palazzo Versace Gold Coast as No.8 in the Top 10 Hip Hotels from around the globe.
Based on traveller popularity, Palazzo Versace was the only Australian hotel nominated by on-line members.
It was nominated alongside some of the most highly recognised hotels in the world, including the Hotel Gansevoort in New York, the Surreal Sanctuary in London, Museum Muse in Barcelona and the Sezz Hotel in Paris.
With its classical Roman architecture, opulent decor and Italian craftsmanship, Palazzo Versace remains true to its designer's Italian heritage.
As one TripAdvisorTM member says: "The furniture is extremely classy - we felt like we were in a palace."
"This announcement comes on the back of a number of State and National tourism awards and further emphasises the fact that Palazzo Versace is not only a popular destination for Australian tourists, but is also highly regarded globally," says Palazzo Versace general manager Sandra Tikal.
Gold Coast Tourism CEO Pavan Bhatia says Palazzo Versace is the epitome of the Gold Coast lifestyle - a place of luxury, sophistication and comfort in a location of astounding beauty.
"We have long known that our city offered world class hospitality and are honoured to be recognised by a respected travel authority such as TripAdvisor,"
he says.
"The Gold Coast's spectacular Hinterland, brilliant waterways and pristine beaches have established its reputation as a premier holiday and business tourism destination and naturally, Palazzo Versace's appeal is distinguished among it," says Mr Bhatia.
Meanwhile, the Australian Hotel Association Awards have acknowledged Palazzo Versace as joint winner of the Best Training Initiative for 2006.
"Palazzo Versace is delighted to receive this award. It is a tribute to our human resources department and staff who have participated enthusiastically in the program," says Ms Tikal.
