NEW RESTAURANT FLAGGED FOR SOUTHPORT

NEW RESTAURANT FLAGGED FOR SOUTHPORT
COUNCIL is accepting tenders for a fresh and unconventional restaurant idea, for a site overlooking the Broadwater Parklands.

Acting Mayor Donna Gates says they are looking for an experienced restaurateur to deliver high quality dining at the Southport location.

“We want something that pops and piques the city’s imagination, becoming a must do experience for locals and visitors alike.

“We want to ensure food industry leaders nationally and internationally are aware of this opportunity to create a unique dining experience that celebrates our city,” Cr Gates says.

There are a number of infrastructure developments in the works for the area, including a Chinatown precinct, the light rail network and Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

“Overlooking the sparkling Broadwater and within the city’s premier park, the restaurant will sit within a purpose-built pavilion with views of the Broadwater and across to the luxury Marina Mirage Shopping Centre and the fashion-branded Palazzo Versace Hotel,” she says.

Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter says a restaurant is perfect addition to the growing CBD.

“I am pleased the city of Gold Coast is seeking a unique restaurant because only this will match the incredible experience the facility will provide,” he says.

Tender submissions are open until May 16.
