NATIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT AT 5 PER CENT

AUSTRALIA’S unemployment rate has remained steady at five per cent for the month of February according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The ABS attributed a fall in total employment to 11.4 million people during the month to a decrease in part time employment to 3.3 million that was partially offset by an increase in full time employment, which was up 47 600 to eight million.

The ABS report highlighted that aggregate hours worked during the month increased 17.9 million hours to 1 602 million hours.
