GOLD COAST MANAGERS RECOGNISED WITH TOP GONGS

THREE Gold Coast business leaders have received recognition at the 2011 Management Excellence Awards.

At an Australian Institute of Management gala dinner, Technigro CEO Nick Bloor (pictured) was named Owner Manager of the Year, G8 Education general manager operations Jae Fraser claimed Young Manager of the Year and A. B. Paterson College principal Dawn Lang was awarded Not-for-profit Manager of the Year.

Bloor was commended for transforming his family-owned Technigro business into a large-scale urban vegetation and natural areas management company, which operates throughout southeast Queensland.

Judges considered Fraser to be engaging, passionate, team-oriented and a natural leader who is innovative and not afraid to think outside the box. The G8 Education boss is also an exceptional industry advocate who addresses challenges through a consultative approach to management.

Lang’s drive and vision ensured Arundel-based A. B. Paterson College was hailed as a ‘leading educational force’ on the Gold Coast, nationally and internationally. Judges claimed she clearly articulated her vision of excellence.

Corporate Travel Management CEO Jamie Pherous received the 2011 Medal for Management Innovation, which recognises his unwavering commitment to business growth through management innovation.

Sunshine Coast TAFE institute director Ross Hepworth won Professional Manager of the Year, while Toowoomba-based Tim Rees of BGA AgriServices claimed Rural Remote Manager of the Year.

Awards chair Julie Boyd says all state finalists showed that high-calibre and innovative leadership still flourishes in Queensland.

“Innovative, pioneering and ‘down to earth’ managers from across the state are at the heart of the Management Excellence Awards. These individuals shape Queensland business and the local communities in which they live and through the awards represent,” says Boyd.

“Our new state-wide category for not for profit manager of the year uncovered a dedicated, hard-working and inspiring group of, often under-appreciated, individuals who work tirelessly for their communities.”
