FREE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS GROWTH INFORMATION SESSION

FREE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS GROWTH INFORMATION SESSION

BUSINESS owners can learn about overseas opportunities at a City of Gold Coast International Market Information Session next week.

Key speakers Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner to the Middle East Donna Massie; South Asia/India Commissioner Parag Shirname; and Commissioner to Japan Tak Adachi will speak of export finance advice, business etiquette, cultural tips and in country support for their respective areas.

Mayor Tom Tate says the session forms part of the city’s International Plan aiming to promote the Coast to foreign investors and significantly increase its export base.

“We’re committed to supporting the city’s fastest growing industries and in particular encouraging export and investment,” says Cr Tate.

“To get this high level of expertise in the one room is an opportunity not to be missed.

“It’s crucial we get our ‘open for business’ message into the international community.

“One of our long-term aims is to establish Gold Coast City as a global competitor where knowledge, innovation and commercialisation are seen as key drivers for the growth and development of the local economy.”

Burleigh business Skin O2 managing director Alison Atia says she will attend the session because her company, which deals in a range of doctor’s formula skin-care and make-up products, is about to begin exporting.

“We are in negotiations with the Middle East and looking at a couple of Asian countries so I know this session will be really helpful in terms of gaining a fuller understanding of these markets,” says Atia.

“A few years ago the city assisted us on a trade mission to the Arab Health Expo in Dubai, which was an invaluable experience for us.

“This is the reason we’re about to start exporting there now.

“Understanding the Middle East market is quite complex so the fact we have a sister relationship with Dubai and the information we have gleaned about it so far is fantastic.”

The free session is on Thursday October 24 from 11.30am to 1.30pm at the Gold Coast Arts Centre’s Panorama Suite.

To register please email [email protected] before October 22.
