GOLD Coast entrepreneurs and inventors are invited to discover the ins and outs of taking an idea to market by participating in the 2006 Gold Coast Ideas2Market seminars in November.
Hosted by the Australian Institute for Commercialisation (AIC), Ideas2Market has been designed to help people build skills to commercialise their ideas, innovations and grow their business.
The Gold Coast Ideas2Market seminars will feature presentations from experts in government and industry, who will share their knowledge and help people through the crucial steps of taking their ideas down the road to commercial success.
Seminars will cover a wide range of topics including conducting a feasibility study, intellectual property, commercialisation options, finance and business and marketing planning.
Ideas2Market is an initiative of the Queensland Government's Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation and is delivered by the Australian Institute for Commercialisation.

SPORTING icon and TV personality Chris 'Buddha' Handy will speak on the similarities of success in sport and life at the November Varsity Central Business Forum at Lake Cafe Bar on November 15 from 5.30pm.

AICD end of year dinner
PROFESSOR Ian Frazer, Australian of the Year 2006, will be the guest speaker at the inaugural end-of-year dinner hosted by the Australian Institute of Company Directors on November 9.
Professor Ian Frazer is the co-developer of a vaccine for cervical cancer, which was made available for public distribution earlier this year.
He is director of the Centre for Immunology and Cancer Research, is on the board of the Medical and Scientific advisory committee of the Queensland Cancer Fund and is vice president of the Cancer Council of Australia.
He will speak on the growth of the health biopharmaceuticals industry in Australia and reflect on his position and involvement with Australian of the Year 2006.

THE Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Carillon Conference Management Pty Limited and Gold Coast Tourism are partners in an inaugural educational initiative to support the academic and professional communities by enticing them to bring their conferences to the Coast.
Working with the support of Invest Queensland, a division of the State Government, the group has invited academics and professionals to a co-operative seminar called
Bring your field to our field, at the Convention Centre on November 2.The Gold Coast partners will outline the support the region can offer, by helping them bring their association's international conference to the Gold Coast.
Speakers include Carillon Conference Management director Ashley Gordon, University of Queensland Professor Zalucki, Invest Queensland manager Mark Paddenburg, and Gold Coast tourism business tourism director Sandra Passaro.

COMMERCE Queensland's Workplace Relations experts, in conjunction with the Employment and Workplace Relations Department and your local Chambers of Commerce, are delivering free, state-wide seminars, agreement-making workshops and one-on-one consulting sessions to Queensland businesses.
The seminars will provide a comprehensive overview of the impact of the WorkChoices legislation - with specific focus on the practical implementation issues - and will run for about three hours.
Workshops will cover making workplace agreements under WorkChoices, including structuring workplace agreements, including mandatory content, excluding prohibited content and addressing the protected award conditions.
