CONVENTION CENTRE GRABS BEST VENUE GONG

THE Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has been awarded Best Meeting Venue in Australia at the Meetings and Events Australia National awards.

FY12 was the centre’s most successful year since opening in 2004, contributing to a strong $284 million injection in to the Queensland economy.

Boosting the Gold Coast’s leisure tourism sector, the venue hosts a variety of business, llifestyle, entertainment and sporting events attracting thousands of domestic and international visitors. More than 1.79 million people have attended 1,818 meetings or events at the GCCEC since it opened.

General manager Adrienne Readings says the award establishes GCCEC as a market leader in the competitive national field.

“It’s such an honour to be named best venue. It demonstrates to the industry that our world-class venue coupled with a truly stunning destination is a winner – for the Centre, the Gold Coast and for the Queensland economy,” she says.

Readings attributes the success of the Centre to its staff.

“This award acknowledges the hard work and professionalism demonstrated by our staff,” she says.

“Our clients enjoy our unique blend of flexible space catering to 10 to 6,000 visitors, our service and imagination.”
