GOLD Coast Bulletin editor Dean Gould (pictured) has resigned after being appointed as communications director at Griffith University.

On August 29, News Limited was expected to announce Townsville Bulletin editor and former Gold Coast Bulletin chief of staff Peter Gleeson as Gould's replacement.

Griffith external relations director Meredith Jackson confirmed Gould’s appointment, saying he would have the new responsibilities of media relations and communications across all five campuses.

“He’s a highly regarded media professional and he’s well embedded in the Gold Coast and Brisbane markets,” says Jackson.

“(He) understands the university and its research and teaching status – and is very aware of our current expansion at the Gold Coast and Nathan campuses.”

On October 10, Gould will have moved from his Molendinar office to Griffith’s Gold Coast campus in Southport.

Born in Brisbane, Gould has worked as a journalist, editor and media professional on regional titles in Queensland and northern New South Wales as well as Irish and US news organisations. He has also done television commentary work and played a key role in digital production and development at News Limited.
