$1.2 billion aged care project for West Tweed

AUGUST 2010

THE Terranora Country Club at Bilambil Heights will be converted into a new residential and retirement living community costing $1.2 billion.

The project will comprise 1604 new dwellings and a 200-bed aged care facility as well as community facilities, commercial and retail outlets and an arts college and precinct.

Land owner Terranora Group Management (TGM) will develop the hilltop community over the next 10 to 12 years where it is expected to accommodate around 3500 residents upon completion.

“We’ve been working with the local community, the Department of Planning and the Tweed Shire Council over the past four years to come up with a master plan proposal that meets the immediate and future needs of the local community.

“But it also respects the significant environmental features of the site,” says project director Steve MacRae.

The project will create 6222 direct construction jobs and 1351 permanent jobs in the areas of retirement, age care, commercial, retail and arts services – much needed in an area with one of the highest unemployment rates in NSW
