The NSW Government is extending its support for farmers affected by the devastating bushfires as the number of livestock confirmed to have perished exceeds 13,000.
Government staff are currently on the ground assisting fire-impacted landholders with livestock assessment and burial of dead animals.
Minister of Agriculture Adam Marshall says the fires have ravaged the state's farms, with more than 12,000 livestock having died in the period since Christmas.
"The toll is expected to continue to climb in coming days it's absolutely devastating for producers and our State's agriculture sector," says Marshall.
"But, no matter how bad the damage is, we are doing everything we can to make sure primary producers affected by these fires bounce back as soon as possible."
Marshall says more crews will be deployed to assist with the difficult task of assessing the impact to livestock.
"Livestock assessment and burial is a grim task but it is one way we can support our landholders during the emergency," says Marshall.
"Yesterday we had 15 field crews conducting stock assessment in Moruya, Nowra Hill, Cobargo, Meryla as well as Dunns Road and Green Valley Talmalmo fires."
"We're also providing fodder to get landholders through the critical first few days of an emergency and now have fodder distribution points operating in Moruya, Cooma, Holbrook, Adelong, Tumut and Tumbarumba."
The NSW Government estimates that more than 16,000 landholders have been impacted since the bushfire emergency began.
Last week dairy producer Bega Cheese (ASX: BGA) announced that it intends to get the business back up and running ASAP.
The company says while the bushfires have had a "significant impact" on its farmers and employees there has been minimal direct impact to the company overall or its ongoing milk supply and operations.
