Bridgestone acquires Lube Mobile

After almost four decades in business mobile car mechanic company Lube Mobile is changing hands.

The Australian arm of Japan-based multinational Bridgestone Corporation today announced it had purchased the iconic automotive services provider at an undisclosed price.

The acquired business founded in 1982 will operate independently of Bridgestone and retain its brand.

Lube Mobile CEO David Sayer says the deal with Bridgestone ensures that Lube Mobile remains in safe hands in the future.

"Lube Mobile and Bridgestone are both industry leaders, automotive icons and share many of the same values," says Sayer.

"We are excited to become part of this professional, iconic, globally recognised group who share our commitment to customer service and innovative mobile solutions.

"I am confident that Lube Mobile will continue to grow under Bridgestone's ownership and remain Australia's favourite mobile mechanical service provider."

Bridgestone Corporation is the world's largest tyre manufacturer, and its subsidiary's head office for Australasia is based in Adelaide.

Bridgestone Australia operates company-owned stores, as well as the franchised Bridgestone Select and licensed Bridgestone service centre locations throughout the country.

The group says the addition of Lube Mobile will be complementary to its existing network for tyre and automotive servicing.

"We're excited by the purchase of Lube Mobile. The company has a proven track record, a sound reputation for its auto service offerings, and is complementary to our business," saysBridgestone Australia & New Zealand managing director Stephen Roche.

"There is a strong alignment between Lube Mobile's business model and Bridgestone's global focus on enhancing mobility solutions.

"That's why Bridgestone's acquisition of Lube Mobile will strengthen both businesses, and ultimately, benefit our customers."
