DriveMyCar soars on Airbnb partnership

One of Australia's fastest emerging sharing economy businesses, DriveMyCar, has scored an Australian first by becoming an affiliate partner of accommodation giant Airbnb.

DriveMyCar, owned by parent company Collaborate Corporation (ASX: CL8), has joined the pay-for-performance program for partners who promote hosting on Airbnb.

The company says DriveMyCar is one of the first Australian Airbnb affiliates, offering incentives to customers who list their properties on Airbnb.

The partnership comes naturally to both companies which are major players in the peer to peer sharing economy.

DriveMyCar customers already list their cars for rent while they are travelling, making a referral program with Airbnb a natural extension of the business' operations, as it is already targeting vacationing Australians who will be away from their home.

In addition to DriveMyCar, Collaborate owns MyCaravan (a peer-to-peer caravan rental business) and Mobilise (a rental marketplace for under-utilised assets.

Shares in Collaborate are booming on the back of the announcement, up 29.41 per cent to $0.02 per share at 12pm AEST.
