PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER WALKS FOR HIS OWN LITTLE MIRACLES

THOUSANDS of participants travelled the 5km stretch at South Bank last Sunday to raise funds in the Mater Little Miracles charity walk.

Joining the crowd were staff from Brisbane's Injury & Accident Lawyers, a team inspired by its own special connection to the Mater legacy.

Firm Director Hideki Shimizu's twins Sebastian and Monique were born prematurely at the hospital nine years ago, spending the first six months of their lives being cared for at the Mater Mothers Hospital.

On event day both Sebastian and Monique joined their parents along with the 15-strong Injury & Accident team to support the walk, which this year raised funds towards constructing Australia's first 24/7 Pregnancy Assessment Centre.

Shimizu says it was exciting to be able to give back to the Mater foundation in a team effort beside both of his family's own little miracles.

"It was a fantastic day and great for our team to be part of a big crowd supporting the event," says Shimizu.

"The staff were excellent and the children are now very proud to do this walk for Mater Miracles.

"They would like to show themselves as being living examples of the hospital's fantastic work."

More than 2000 seriously ill and premature babies are cared for in Mater's Neonatal Critical Care Unit each year.
