MORE COPS FOR QUEENSLAND
IN AN effort to improve local safety standards, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) has recruited 82 new officers for Brisbane.
The new forces will be divided amongst the Brisbane, Central, Northern, South Eastern and Southern regions fulfilling part of the Newman government election promise to instate 1,100 new personnel over four years.
QPS Acting Commissioner Stephen Gollschewski today congratulated the recruits whom had completed their half-year training program.
“The role of a police officer is like no other,” says Acting Commissioner Gollschewski.
“Each of these new officers will experience some challenging situations, however there will also be many rewarding and humbling times.”
Police Minister Jack Dempsey says that during their training, the new officers learned the skills needed to effectively enforce the rule of law and keep Queensland safe.
The government has provided 700 new police officers during their term.
