DLA PIPER TAKES OUT TOP SPOT
DLA Piper has taken out the title of Law Firm of the Year at the Australian Insurance Industry Awards hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).

It was the 11th year the awards have been held, which recognise businesses that have been of great service to the insurance sector.

DLA Piper’s Joint Insurance Sector Leader in Australia, Samantha O’Brien (pictured), says it was a momentous win for the firm.

“These are fantastic and momentous wins for us as a firm, particularly given our long-held strength in insurance locally and as a global firm committed to this important sector,” says O’Brien, who is based out of DLA Piper’s Brisbane office.

“It is incredibly satisfying to be recognised as the leading law firm by those that matter most – fellow members of the insurance industry.”

DLA Piper consultant Michael Gill also took home the ANZIIF Lifetime Achievement Award.

Customer service was given significant weight when judging this year’s 750 industry participants across 15 award categories, according to ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford.

“Every year we see insurers and those operating in the insurance market focus more and more on customer service, responsiveness to customer needs and customer retention,” says Willsford.

“We judge the awards on a number of factors including innovation and achievement, but the fact that the industry is focusing so much on the consumer shows that despite operating in extremely difficult circumstances, companies want to keep their policyholders happy.”
