MEGAPORT Limited (ASX: MP1), a Brisbane-based interconnectivity provider, has entered into a partnership with Chinese tech giant Alibaba which will provide its customers with direct access to Alibaba Cloud.
The deal will connect users of Megaport's platform to Alibaba's Cloud Express Connect, a high speed and secure network connection, and provide them with access to Alibaba's network of cloud regions.
"Megaport's extensive global footprint is strengthened by our partnership with Alibaba Cloud," says Megaport CEO Vincent English.
"Direct, dedicated access to Alibaba Cloud's services adds value to our platform.
"This partnership enables customers globally to directly access services from the leading cloud provider based in China.
"Partnering with China's largest public cloud provider aligns with our strategy to enrich our ecosystem and provides greater service options for our customers."
Alibaba Cloud customers will also be able to access Megaport's global network in more than 20 major countries in Asia Pacific, North America, and Europe with 150 points of presence.

The Alibaba deal continues Megaport's aggressive global expansion and follows the announcement last week of a Sydney to Los Angeles link which allows its customers to access key cloud nodes outside of the main hubs of Australia and New Zealand.
The Los Angeles route was established just weeks after the company announced a cloud connectivity collaboration with US giant Oracle.
The elastic interconnection cloud services provider, which uses software defined networking, allows its customers to access a global platform to connect to their data base through the Megaport platform.
Founded by Bevan Slattery in 2013, the company is pinning its growth on the rapid demand from companies to be connected to the 'cloud' from anywhere in the world.
The Oracle deal is part of a massive expansion program undertaken by Megaport, which now connects more than 620 customers throughout 150 data centres in 37 cities across 19 countries.
Along with Alibaba and Oracle, Megaport also partners with major cloud service providers Amazon AWS Technology, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute and Google Cloud Interconnect.
