FLIGHT CENTRE GIVES BUSINESSES A BOOST WITH GOLDMIND

FLIGHT Centre Travel Group (ASX:FLT) has launched a corporate coaching program sharing its trajectory to success, with fellow Brisbane-based company Domino's Pizza Enterprises (ASX:DMP) among the first to be schooled.

GoldMind is a series of leadership training programs aimed at helping other businesses grow, based on the travel retailer's expansion to 3000 stores across 14 countries over 35 years.

Flight Centre corporate travel executive general manager Andrew Flannery says the company wanted to promote what it does well behind-the-scenes.

"Paired with our staff wellbeing program (HealthWise) and financial program (MoneyWise), GoldMind can help any business create a workplace culture that boosts productivity," Flannery says.

"Creating that culture is not expensive, it's a mindset. A lot of the things we talk about are really basic things to do.

"For example, a lot of companies offer some kind of wellness service but the next frontier of employment services is addressing people's financial wellbeing.

"There is a lot of financial stress in the community so we've got our own in-house advisers, from money coaches through to financial planners."

Domino's has already signed up to the program, with 17 up-and-coming employees undergoing a six-month training course.

Domino's learning and development manager Peter Ryan says the program taught them how to turn an idea into a business opportunity.

"We were blown away - three of the four projects they came up with are now being progressed by the business," Ryan says.

"It's incredibly rewarding to see grassroots ideas come to fruition."

GoldMind general manager Melissa Armstrong says the programs showed bottom line benefits.

"Because of Flight Centre's size and scale, we are able to invest in new approaches, test them internally and bring the successful ones to market," Armstrong says.

"Fundamentally, if staff believe their leader is acknowledging them, listening to them and developing them, they will generally be happier and more motivated."
