HELENSVALE TECHNOLOGY GROUP REACHES MILESTONE

HELENSVALE TECHNOLOGY GROUP REACHES MILESTONE

AS HELENSVALE Technology Group gears up to celebrate a decade in business, the company looks back on its rich history which has seen it transform into a leading telecommunications store.

From humble beginnings as a single retail site at Helensvale, the business has grown to offer business solutions in three different Telstra Business Centre (TBC) franchises in south-east Queensland, consulting to close to 30,000 small business customers for Telstra.

In addition, the group has three retail stores, located at Westfield Helensvale, Harbour Town Shopping Centre and Stockland Shopping Centre Burleigh, and is consistently ranked in Telstra's national top five franchised stores.

Tim Tocco and Paul Gunther (pictured), directors of Helensvale Technology Group, attribute the rapid growth and success of the business to its investment in staff.

Gunther says it is all about delivering a naturally driven team that is passionate about keeping abreast of telecommunication trends and new developments within the industry.

"One of the biggest highlights has been the fact that we have been able to continually grow - we started with six staff 10 years ago and now we have more than 220," says Gunther.

"And being Gold Coast guys, around 170 of those staff members are based on the Gold Coast. We would be among the biggest employers in the city at the moment and that is something we are very proud of."

Formerly The Helensvale Group, the business recently rebranded to Helensvale Technology Group (HTG) to cater to demand and ensure greater capability.

Gunther says the rebrand reflects greater recruitment opportunities and cements the business as a technology leader.

The group ultimately assists customers utilise technology to improve communication in their lives and businesses. The company's capabilities include sales, service, project management and technical advice.

Further complementing the group is TBC Solutions, a division of HTG that is working to keep organisations up to date with technological advancements, while providing access to expert advice.

Another successful division is Formaliti, a business that aims to use Internet technologies to simplify business procedures by digitising paperwork.

"As a business, we are always striving to do better and have an inherent commitment to improvement so we are always asking ourselves how do we do better today what we did yesterday," says Tocco.

Tocco says the group is keen to expand its portfolio and is interested in other IT initiatives.

This includes a leading software from the UK that teaches children how to program and code, and each year builds on the curriculum.

"At the end of the day everything is run and driven by web development," says Tocco.

"If you are going to run a business or be involved in a business in five to 10 years' time, if you don't understand how to code or program, you will get left behind."

Helensvale Technology Group will celebrate 10 years in business next week.
