BRUMBY'S BAKERS RISE TO BREAD WAR CHALLENGE

BRUMBY'S BAKERS RISE TO BREAD WAR CHALLENGE

SUPERMARKET home-brand bread can be swapped free-of-charge for a Brumby's loaf this weekend, as the bakery aims to prove that fresh is best.

More than 250 Brumby's stores across the country will participate in the event to celebrate the brands 40-year history, and it is estimated that the bakery group will give away around 50,000 loaves.

Brumby's Bakery managing director Matthew Marshall is encouraging those who usually purchase home-brand bread to take advantage of the offer and taste the difference.

He says manufactured bakery products don't have the same quality and freshness compared to a loaf hand crafted by a real baker and he hopes people will see the value in heading to their local baker and tasting quality bread.

"Our bakers get into store while our customers are still sleeping and spend hours kneading, proofing and watching as the loaves they've made by hand slowly rise in the oven," says Marshall.

"We strive to deliver home-grown goodness to families all around the country and urge customers to taste the difference by taking part in our national bread swap challenge.

"All of our bread contains 100 per cent locally sourced Aussie wheat to ensure we are using only the best products."

At the end of the day, the bread that is left over will be donated to local community groups, shelters and charities.

"The brand is always looking for new ways to show their support and this is just one way for us to help those in need," says Marshall.

Brumby's is part of Gold Coast-headquartered multi-food franchise operator Retail Food Group (ASX:RFG).
