QLD GOVERNMENT TEAMS UP WITH MICROSOFT
THE STATE Government has secured a deal with Microsoft to deliver its digital services, saving $13.7 million in administration costs over three years.

It’s the first entire government contract in Australia and will create mobility between computers and cloud-based software.

Minister for Information Technology Ian Walker (pictured) says updating the technology will boost the public service sector.

“Not only are we saving the taxpayers of Queensland millions of dollars, it’s another positive step towards simplifying IT services across government.

“This new contract means that for the first time all government departments will have access to the same technologies, allowing for greater sharing and collaboration,” he says.

Walker says the transition from a government owned model to world-class solution provider will help lower costs.

Microsoft state director Sharon Schoenborn says the alliance will open new capabilities in IT.

“Our new partnership with the Queensland Government is a great example of a government body responding to the new world of business and digital innovation by becoming more sophisticated users of modern technology,” she says.

The partnership has been locked in for the next three years.
