NON THIRSTY MERC

COMFORT is one thing, instant connection is another and that’s what’ so impressive about Mercedes’ E-Class Estate 250 CDI wagon.

When you get behind the wheel of a new car, you don’t want to have to spend a long time getting to know its dynamics; its driveability.

Mercedes has made yet another statement in the seven-seater category with its new E250 wagon. For starters there’s a new diesel ‘Blue Efficiency’ model added to the range. It packs adequate punch for its weight with an output of 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque.

With fuel consumption of only 6.3 litres per 100 km on the combined cycle and a rating of 5.0 litres per 100 km on the extra urban cycle, the E 250 CDI offers a combined space and pace balance, perfect for weekend drive trips with the family.

In the picturesque northern NSW hinterland and leafy hamlets beyond Mullumbimby, the car painted its own picture – one of both beauty and escape. Bold enough to evoke curiosity, yet somehow understated, it presents a new style of motoring to the modern day family.

An indication that the luxury German manufacturer has got it right is when the managing director of Mercedes-Benz, Cars Horst von Sanden, has one parked in his garage.

“We put the carriage of the most precious cargo of all (families) as an absolute priority. Our NCAP five star rated range of Mercedes-Benz Estates put every family first,” he says.

“Our offering of the largest and most comprehensive Estate range in the industry with a choice between the five seat C-Class, the five or seven Seat R-Class and the six, seven or eight seat Viano and now the seven seat E 250 CDI demonstrates our commitment to the Estate buyer.

“I am such a huge fan of the E-Class Estate that I chose to drive one as my everyday vehicle. The seven seat versatility, safety, comfort, impressive performance and design tick all the boxes for me. The E 250 CDI I believe has very strong appeal to our customers with its impressive environmental credentials.”

The E 250 has ample space in the rear for golf clubs and luggage with an electric rear tailgate that opens and closes with the press of a button. Leather upholstery, multi-adjust seating and plenty of leg room add to the driving comfort.

Slide back the sunroof and set off for the day or better yet, the weekend - and enjoy the many facets this car has to offer. It’s simple and uncomplicated – the way touring ought to be.
