Icon of industry award

THE Australian Industry (Ai) Group will celebrate Queensland’s 150th anniversary by bringing together industry and government leaders at the Grand View Room at Hillstone St Lucia on April 23.
To mark this milestone, Ai Group has established the Icon of Industry award, to be presented on the night in recognition of the efforts of an individual company in contributing to Queensland’s prosperity. The award is toughly contested with solid nominations from many iconic Queensland companies.
Political satirist Bryan Dawe (pictured) will host the event, ensuring that guests will be on the edge of their seats throughout the night. Dawe is best known for his work with John Clarke on the ABC’s 7:30 Report where the duo prick the balloons of the nation’s political leaders.
Watussi will close the night with an action packed performance of Latin American music with a Cuban edge. Watussi is an eight-piece band and lead player Oscar Jimenez is known for his boundless energy and charisma, making Watussi a must see for lovers of live music. Watussi’s debut album Tequila, Sangrey Fuego was nominated for the Best World Music Album in the 2008 ARIA Awards.
“Conditions have been tougher for industry in the past six months, but it’s important we come together to celebrate industry’s contribution to Queensland over the past 150 years. With all the difficult news we’re hoping the night will be a strong reminder of the pioneering spirit that steels Queensland industry in times like these,”says Ai Group’s Queensland director, Chris Rodwell.
Ai Group’s Gala Dinner will take place on Thursday, April 23 at Hillstone St Lucia from 7pm. Limited table and individual bookings are still available. More info at: [email protected]
