STATE Government aims to get in tune with Queenslanders by asking whether Suncorp Stadium should host more international music acts.
Residents are being encouraged to participate in a consultation process to determine if the venue is being underutilised.
Under current legislation, Suncorp Stadium is limited to a maximum of four concerts per calendar year.
Minister for Sport and Racing Bill Byrne says the government wanted to see if there was demand for more music events in the city.
"The demand for Suncorp is evident from the big names Brisbane has welcomed to the stage such as U2, Foo Fighters (pictured), Andre Rieu, One Direction, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams," Byrne says.
"These major concerts help raise the international profile of Brisbane and bring significant economic benefits to Queensland.
"Over recent years we have seen an increased interest by Australian music promoters and international artists to bring their acts to Suncorp.
"But we also know that due to its location, many local residents may have a view about any proposal to increase the number of concerts each year.
"We want to carefully map out the best way forward should the community indicate Suncorp Stadium enhances their entertainment experience enough to welcome more of the world's leading music acts."
Suncorp Stadium has a capacity of 52,500 guests and has hosted 14 concerts since 2006.
Sporting and religious events are considered separate and will not be impacted by the survey, with 45 major events held at the venue last year.
Member for Mount Coot-tha, the Suncorp Stadium electorate, Steven Miles says it's important to consider all points of views on the proposal.
"I know how many people value Suncorp Stadium as a really first-class venue, how well it is served by public transport and how they like attending events there," Miles says.
"I also know how events can impact on residents and the local neighbourhood through increased traffic and noise.
"It is important for everyone to be conscious of how people in the local area are affected."
