G20 TO ENHANCE BRISBANE'S BUSINESS REPUTATION

PREMIER Campbell Newman says the G20 Summit is a chance to build on Queensland’s global reputation as an exciting business destination and a hub for innovation and science.

Newman welcomed the first international leaders to the city this morning including South Africa’s President His Excellency Jacob Zuma, who is just one of more than 20 leaders touching down in Brisbane.

Newman says the arrival highlighted how the G20 would have long lasting benefits to the State.

“Some of the world leaders attending here would not have visited Brisbane before and that makes this a unique opportunity for Queensland,” says Newman.

“We have done a lot of work to create momentum in Queensland, but there is more to do and this summit will help build on our strong plan to secure our State’s future.

“What that means is more jobs both now and for our children as we look to harness these opportunities.”

The G20 event is expected to attract 4000 delegates and 3000 media representatives to Brisbane.
