FLIGHT CENTRE TEAMS UP WITH TEQ

FLIGHT Centre Travel Group (ASX:FLT) has partnered with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) to promote the Sunshine State in a $6 million campaign.

The three-year deal between the travel retailer and TEQ aims to boost inbound tourism numbers by highlighting state events and attractions.

FLT managing director Graham Turner says Queensland is a major market for the company and the timing of the partnership is perfect.

“It’s a major destination for our customers in Australia and abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, so we welcome the opportunity to strengthen our offering for travellers,” Turner says.

“We expect to see the Queensland tourism market grow substantially over the next few years as we gear up for major events such as the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.”

TEQ chief executive Leanne Coddington says the group will focus on growing commercial partnerships, with the agreement with Flight Centre being the first of its kind.

“We are always looking for new ways to deliver on TEQ’s objective to increase visitor numbers, length of stay and tourism spend across Queensland destinations and this partnership with Flight Centre is a fantastic fit,” Coddington says.

“This landmark deal will strengthen the marketing of Queensland destinations and holiday experiences.”

Flight Centre will roll out in-store promotions and online offers throughout the year, to ensure Queensland remains a top option for holidays.
