Winning hand for Conrads at QHA awards

CONRAD Jupiters has taken out four prestigious categories at the Queensland Hotels Association 2006 Awards for Excellence, winning the Responsible Serving - Gaming, Workplace Health and Safety, Responsible Serving - Alcohol and the Most Outstanding Community Service & Achievement awards.

The annual awards, held this year at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracted 900 hoteliers and tourism providers from across Queensland.

Jupiters Ltd managing director Xavier Walsh says the awards are a great acknowledgement for staff, who typically, work behind the scenes, but play a key role in helping deliver the Conrad Jupiters experience.

Conrad Jupiters plays a major role in the local community through sponsorship of local events and organisations. In the past year, Conrad Jupiters has donated almost $40,000 worth of accommodation and restaurant vouchers to help organisations with funding and sponsored community events such as SLSQ Summer Surf Girl, Bras for Cancer, Paradise Kids and Conrad Jupiters Art Prize.

One of the main initiatives implemented through the Responsible Gaming Department was

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week, for which staff were encouraged to undertake a range of activities to learn more about responsible gambling.

With nine bars and five restaurants on the premises throughout the qualifying period, Conrad Jupiters commitment to the responsible service of alcohol and providing guests with a safe and secure environment was acknowledged through the award win.
