Skills that sizzle

AUGUST 2010

A CURRUMBIN restaurant manager has taken out a national marketing award after leading a team of 40 restaurant managers and more than 480 staff across Queensland.

Geoff Bunt is cooking with confidence after clinching the national Sizzler restaurant Market Manager of the Year award.

The award is judged on an extensive criteria based on a number of factors including store KPIs, operations evaluations, management development, staff retention, staff training and customer satisfaction.

Bunt oversees six Sizzler restaurants in Queensland from Mermaid Beach to Cairns.

He says the most rewarding part of his job is watching people grow and develop within the company.

“There is an overwhelming amount of experience within the company which has contributed to the strength and the success of Sizzler restaurants to outlast the competition over the past 25 years,” says Bunt.

The former customs officer left the bright lights of Sydney 21 years ago and has not looked back.

“I could not imagine going back to an office only style job where I couldn’t have the opportunity to get out and interact with the people,” says Bunt.

Sizzler director of operations Phillip Coleman, says a commitment to staff and quality service has placed Bunt among the best casual dining restaurant managers in the country.

“Geoff’s commitment, disciplined approach, communication and people development skills have culminated in outstanding achievements across a whole range of areas within the operation of his restaurants in the past year,” he says.
