SKYPOINT’S latest tourism offering is hoped to take the city’s struggling tourism industry to new heights.

Opening this summer, SkyPoint Climb is touted to become the nation’s highest external building walk. Climbers wearing a full body suit and harness will go on a guided tour 270 metres above sea level via the SkyPoint Observation Deck on level 77 of the Q1 residential tower in Surfers Paradise.

Ardent Leisure CEO Greg Shaw says locals and visitors will have an unprecedented chance to appreciate the 'glitter strip’s golden beaches, sparkling skyline and lush hinterland.

“SkyPoint Climb will form the Gold Coast’s premium new tourism and leisure attraction designed for locals and holiday makers wanting to experience the region’s most unique vantage point with a level of thrill,” he says.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh says SkyPoint Climb will help operators survive what has been a challenging year for tourism.

“This attraction presents another reason to visit Queensland and another product that locals can proudly promote,” she says.

Each climb session is expected to last for around 90 minutes. Pre-bookings will commence in November.
