UQ MOOTERS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH

STUDENTS from the University of Queensland have won the Administrative Appeals Tribunal National Mooting Competition for the fourth time in seven years.

This achievement also marks the fourth major mooting title this year to be taken out by law students at UQ.

The team consisted of Nathan Lindsay (pictured center) and Eloise Gluer (pictured right) standing as advocates and Erin Gourlay (pictured left) as the solicitor, with Lindsay additionally awarded the individual prize for best orator.

UQ senior lecturer and team coach Dr Peter Billings says the team’s preparation and performance were of the highest standards.

Billings explains that students are given the chance to fine-tune their skills as legal professionals by participating in the competition.

“The annual Administrative Appeals Tribunal mooting competition provides an opportunity for students to learn more about administrative law and merits review, and enables them to develop their written and oral advocacy skills,” he says.
