The Australian law firm building new data analytics and hybrid cloud capabilities

Leading Western Australian law firm Jackson McDonald has invested in data analytics and is now moving towards hybrid cloud tech through the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS.

The new software introduces data analytics services including an HR information system which compiles and analyses data from a range of sources to create a more effective hiring process.

IT manager at Jackson McDonald, Asfar Sadewa, says the software helps the company make well-versed decisions.

"We've created a data warehouse that can crunch data such as profitability over many years in a raw form to provide vital information to help the board make informed business decisions," says Sadewa.

"We simply couldn't develop these kinds of resources with our old environment."

Nutanix has also inspired the launch of a client login platform that facilitates collaboration between clients and legal teams in a more structured way.

The platform is a new digital workspace that encompasses audio, video and messaging to enable better and more regular communication for all clients.

According to Sadewa, another major benefit is a reduction in IT outage risk.

"Nutanix lets us see minor issues before they cause a real problem then we can make decisions quickly that stop outages from happening altogether," he says.

Since implementing the software, the law firm has reduced its infrastructure team from three to just one, repurposing the other roles to focus on more business-focused activities such as software development and new digital initiatives.

"Our IT teams are genuinely happier they're not fighting fires, staying late or over the weekends to fix bugs and outages," Sadewa says.

"They're having fun, learning more and their roles have expanded into new areas."
