SCOTT Jones made a radical decision to offload almost 200 clients this year so that he could focus on implementing new technology and systems to the Gold Coast’s thriving SME sector.

“We didn’t want to become the ‘we fix PCs specialist’, even though that’s where we started out,” says Jones.

“There’s a lot more going on and the industry is changing in a big way. It was important for me to be at the forefront of the industry instead of becoming obsolete down the track.”

IT Leaders will undertake an aggressive expansion phase over the next 12 months with its hosting service following a new $100,000 on-site data centre.

Jones believes the investment will significantly improve the management and security of client’s growing IT demands.

“I knew the industry was going that way, but I didn’t think it was going to happen until a few years down the track,” he says.

“Give it another five years and most SMEs will not be buying their own servers, they will run everything though managed services and a virtual data centre for added security and up to date technology.”

Jones is also counting on a revolutionary product that is set to streamline the accounting and legal industries. StreamLeader is automated software designed to strip any excess time wastage in administration in areas including data entry.

“There are big opportunities to streamline those professional service companies,” he says.

“At the moment I have got a lot going on and I’m juggling a lot of balls, but that’s the nature of IT.”
