GOLD COAST PROJECT OF THE YEAR: THE ULTIMATE BEACHSIDE ADDRESS

RHAPSODY in Surfers North is a dynamic beachside address that combines flair and functionality to earn Brookfield Multiplex the Master Builders Project of the Year.

Brookfield Multiplex partnered with Gold Coast-based firm DBI Design to produce this sophisticated architectural statement reminiscent of grand vessels from a bygone era.

A building of two distinct architectonic elements encased in a dramatic Corten steel street-level hull, it is destined to become the signature of the Surfers North precinct in Surfers Paradise.

The building is a 41-storey tower with 223 units.

It features a sky deck with communal garden, recreational areas, two executive lounges and a gymnasium, all set against a spectacular Gold Coast backdrop.

During the construction, the Brookfield Multiplex team had to endure two V8 supercar races which made access to the site difficult due to road closures, but the team stepped up to the challenges to keep the project on track.

Just one of the complexities was the 16-hour installation of four 32 tonne pre-cast columns that provide architectural form and structural significance to the building.

The building also has a focus on sustainable growth, evident in the project's 5 Star Green Star rating.

Rhapsody Surfers North was the first residential tower to be constructed in Surfers Paradise in two years.
